e-Learning Updates – Rubber Materials Part Two

Continuing with our Rubber Materials lesson series, part two is now available. Part one delivered the basic information on the different types of elastomers used in sealing systems. Part two explores further into the world of rubber, giving more information about the different families of elastomer materials. The aim of the new chapter is to enable you to differentiate between the sealing materials and understand fluid compatibility, making business easier and preventing seal failure, which can result in costly application downtime. The lesson is divided into four chapters:

• Chapter 1: Types of elastomers and how to select the correct material to meet application requirements
• Chapter 2: Explains the impact of temperature and operating time on seal
• Chapter 3: Chemistry between sealing materials and media, including the polarity of fluids.
• Chapter 4: Seal types and their characteristics.

Like our other e-Learning offerings, the quiz is interactive and provides quizzes and animations to aid your learning.

In 2011, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions launched its 3rd mobile application, the O-Ring Selector . Now with over 15,000 downloads, it’s time for another update to improve the experience for users. The O-Ring selector offers engineers and professionals a quick and easy way to select the correct O-Ring sizes and housing dimensions based on installation specifications. It will recommend O-Ring sizes based on ISO 3601, showing you exactly which parts you need, and features time-saving conveniences, such as a quick search, to make your work flow more efficient. In the new update, the interface has been redesigned to offer a more intuitive flow and user-friendly structure. In addition, ISO size codes can now be entered in the housing tab to get O-Ring recommendations and part numbers even faster.

The O-Ring Selector is available in English, German, Chinese and Japanese for Android. To download the app, simply search for ‘Trelleborg O-Ring Selector’ in Google Play. Versions for the iPhone and iPad are currently under development and will be available in 2017.

To speed up and simplify choosing the correct material for sealing applications, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions introduces the Sealing Material Selector app . By selecting specifications, such as material group, temperature and hardness, the app will propose suitable material grades to meet the requirements. It also includes a filter, to narrow results by institute approvals or product types, and the ability to request material data sheets directly from the app’s interface.

The Sealing Materials Selector app is available for download for iPhone and Android. To download the app, search for ‘Trelleborg Sealing Materials’ on Apple iTunes or Google Play. Currently only available in English.
