Isolast®J9510, a perfluoroelastomer developed by Busak+Shamban,for sealing in hazardous environments, has received independentaccredited certification relating to the materials performance inexplosive decompression situations.

Industry accredited testing of Isolast®J9510 seals included 30explosive decompression cycles. Despite this rigorous regimeIsolast®J9510 seals showed no resultant damage or leakage.

The test parameters included:
  • Test gas: natural gas
  • Test temperature: 80°C
  • Test pressure: 138 bar (14 MPa)
  • Decompression rate: 12 minutes


 Isolast®J9510 is a perfluoroelastomer offering high-stabilitysealing, resistance to chemical and thermal extremes and hascompatibility with a wide range of chemicals. The material exhibitsadvanced dynamic characteristics and has a high response rate -greatly reducing the prospect of seal leakage and the associateddangers. Additionally, the seals are extrusion resistant; extrusionbeing a primary cause of explosive decompression where, typically,whole elements of sealing material can literally, explode /implode, when pressures are quickly reduced, in an operational orsafety shut-down situation.
